Disability Services Graduate Assistantships

The Office of Disability Services is currently searching for two graduate students (20 hours per week) for the Fall 2008 through Spring 2009 academic year. Individuals must have excellent interpersonal skills, patience, flexibility, organizational skills, and the desire work one-on-one with students who have disabilities/challenges. Duties would include overseeing the Alternate Testing Program, working one on one with students, office management, and conducting workshops. Pays $7000 for the academic year. Graduate Student Mentor

Student Support Services is currently seeking graduate students for 10-15 hour mentorship positions as Graduate Student Mentors in Fall 2008. Qualified persons are mentors and role models for first year students and some upper classmen. In addition, patience and excellent verbal communication and listening skills are required. Working 1-on-1 with students involves assisting students with study skills and time management, monitoring study behaviors, and challenging students to strive for a better future through academic success. Student Support Services English Teaching Assistantship

This graduate student serves as a 20 hour a week teaching assistant for the special section of English 1000 in the Fall and English 1100 in the Spring for students enrolled in the Student Support Services. This position pays $3500 per semester. Responsibilities include attending and assisting with the class and providing review sessions and tutoring in writing skills for Student Support Services students.

Study Hall Leaders for Student Athletes

Academic Advising for Athletes is currently seeking several graduate students to work as Study Hall Leaders and providing academic support for student athletes in Fall 2008 and Spring 2009. Qualifications include evidence of academic success, excellent interpersonal skills, patience, flexibility, organizational skills, the desire to mentor and teach students and the ability to work independently. Several 10 hour positions at $10 an hour and two 20 hour Graduate Assistantships at $3500 per semester are available. Responsibilities include facilitating weekly study hall sessions, mentoring undergraduate student athletes, monitoring the academic progress of undergraduate students, completing paperwork on attendance and student progress, and attending training meetings.
