Welcome to the
Learning Assistance Program
The Learning Assistance Program (LAP) assists students in achieving their educational goals. The program provides services to students which include tutoring in introductory level courses, supplemental instruction for courses that are particularly demanding, and learning skills courses and consultations. LAP also offers integrated services for specific populations, including students with disabilities, student athletes, and first generation college students.
We are located in D.D. Dougherty Hall, which served as the library decades ago, so it still has the word Library on the outside of this building. We are located between the Old Belk Library Classroom Building, and the new Belk Library Commons. Our front entrance faces the entrance to the bookstore. As you enter the main entrance, go up the stairs to find the Tutoring Lab on the left, and the LAP reception area on the right.
Joy Clawson is the Director, Learning Assistance Program, and Wanda Hamilton is the Office Manager.
